My heart overflows with a noble theme…God has been so incredibly faithful in my life! His name is faithful and true. Here is my testimony in regards to Master’s Commission and God’s provision therein.
The first year of JMC was incredibly stunning. Even though I had grown up in Jubilee and under Pastor Nate when he was a youth pastor, it was completely different being in Master’s Commission. There was an even deeper foundation laid in my life both spiritually and naturally. I learned in the midst of a very full schedule, how to manage time, prioritize relationship, and practice God’s Presence. I learned how to work hard in work projects, not working for man’s applause or approval, but to stop and listen to the sound of eternal applause echoing over my life, letting the testimony of those who had gone before challenge and encourage me on into even higher standards and greatness. Competition and striving was broken off as I learned who I truly am in Christ – aside from my talents or giftings. It is not what I do that defines who I am, but rather, who I am overflows into what I do with beautiful creativity.
After the first year, I saw God provide in awesome ways. As you can imagine, without a “formal education,” finding work was a bit difficult. I had begun looking for office work, but people said that no one would hire merely for a summer, since most positions require that long simply to get comfortable in the job. I believed otherwise. I also really wanted to live on my own, but knew that paying rent wasn’t feasible if I was to come up with the money for tuition. God opened up heaven and gave me exactly what I needed. I was able to stay at the church house and work a few hours a week as my rent, with minimal utility expenses. And, a connection made me able to start a part-time job in an office the day after I graduated from JMC. The part-time job turned into full-time within a week. Here, the rubber of theology got to meet the road of wisdom in application in the natural. It was in that place, where I worked by myself, was self-motivated, needed to learn quickly and find creative solutions, that so much of what I learned in JMC was applied. I learned how to be on time, and got a lot of favor at my job. I received the opportunity to acquire even more skills for my resumé, and had a lot of fun doing it. It still wasn’t enough to pay for tuition, so I sent out letters for support, even though it was for the third year in a row. God blessed me in innumerable ways, and, I received a brand new MacBook Pro laptop and free printer, and also another job opportunity, monthly support, many people just blessing me. Even with all of that I still didn’t have quite enough. I was going to have to pay interest to JMC and possibly not go on the missions trip. Someone found out about it, and gave me an interest-free loan for the rest of money that I needed!
I could go on and on and on, because God is so good, He is continually pouring out favor. I want to encourage you to be faithful with the little, risk with God, and watch Him do what He is best at – coming through on your behalf.
